Making the Most of Your Spa Experience: Knowing
Proper Spa Etiquette
Knowing
standard spa etiquette is essential for new spa-goers and regular
customers alike. Consideration for your therapist and other
spa clients helps everyone have the best spa experience possible.
The goal of a spa experience is quiet relaxation in a pleasant
environment. Try to arrive early for your appointment so you
can relax for a few minutes and prepare for the service you
are about to receive. A relaxing hot shower before you go to
the spa can help you better enjoy your spa treatment.
Please turn off or silent electronics such as music
players, cell phones and pagers. Speak quietly.
Tell your therapist how you are feeling or what they can do
to help you enjoy your experience. There's no need for a running
conversation, unless you choose, but your therapist needs feedback
for you to be most comfortable.
Massage is usually done nude or in underwear, although usually
only the part being massaged is exposed. If you are more comfortable
wearing underwear, that's okay. Talk to your therapist about
what you are comfortable wearing. There are also techniques
such as reflexology and chair massage during which you can
be fully clothed. Learn more about nudity
in the spa here.
Although you will be very relaxed, please don't plan on a
long nap if your therapist tells you to take your time getting
up.
The customary tip is 15% to 20% of the price of each
service. |
